There’s no way anyone can sugar-coat the fact that you’re in for a really rough ride if you decide to take IB. Aside from all the academic stress of internal assessments, major exams and the extended essay, there are also extra-curricular activities and general life problems to handle. But don’t fret guys! Here are some simple but effective #IBlifehacks to get you through the next 2 years with relative ease

  1. Get a planner.

Just a simple one (such as Google Calendar) will do. Sometimes in the midst of our hectic schedules, we tend to forget some important deadlines and events. Take a minute or two to plan out your day and note down the deadlines, tests and events coming up. Staying organised will help increase your efficiency and reduce your stress. You’ll definitely thank yourself in the future when you start to manage a greater and greater workload.

  1. Have a hearty breakfast every Thursday.

Starvation Thursdays are no joke. With only 40 minutes to queue up in the crowded SAC and get a decent meal into your stomach to last the full 8 hour school day, it is best you eat a good breakfast before coming to school.

  1. Form study groups with your friends.

IB is only fun when you know that you’re going through it with friends! It’s a good idea to have supportive people around you to share notes and jokes with. What better way is there to spend some quality time together with your pals while still being productive? And with Skype, you guys can even stay connected without staying at a physical location together. All you need are friends you can study with and you’re good to go!

  1. Back-up everything.

I cannot stress this enough. You wouldn’t want all your tears, sweat and blood to disappear all of a sudden if your laptop ever crashes. Just effortlessly back all your precious works up by doing everything on Google drive. This is what it was invented for, guys. Cloud technology these days is seriously amazing. Go try it!

Last but not least:

  1. Smile!!

Going through IB with a smile and an accompanying positive attitude will allow you to be able to survive the vicissitudes of life. Even when you have a crappy day, smile. Even better, smile to others. Giving others a BIG smile will brighten up their day and when they throw you a smile back, you will find it so hard to stay stuck in a bad mood for long. Smile bright and your happiness will be multiplied!

Now that you are equipped with some tips to tide you through IB life, go forth youthful one, and live it to the fullest! Yes, IB may be hellish, but it sure will be a hell of a journey that you definitely won’t regret!
